INCONTROLUCE
For once, we switch off the light to illuminate, and switch it on to tell a story.
Ristorante Marconi
Ristorante Marconi
Sasso Marconi (BO), Italy / 2016
Marconi is a family-owned restaurant started in 1983. In 2000, management of the restaurant was given to Massimo and Aurora Mazzucchelli. Massimo works the floor as Maitre and Aurora runs the kitchen. Their first Michelin Guide star arrived in 2008. In the meantime, Marconi has been recognised for excellence by the most prestigious restaurant guides. In 2015, Massimo and Aurora decided to renovate their restaurant and in 2016, it took on a decidedly new and different look. The kitchen itself was not altered, but everything else was completely re-conceived so as to blend in better with the restaurant’s natural surroundings. Davide Groppi’s lights were instrumental in the change. They were conceived as another kitchen ingredient, used gracefully but at the same time leaving their mark on the tables, at the entrances and along the restaurant’s passageways. The result is photo-graphy, or writing with light, seducing guests, creating an elegant and hospitable atmosphere. The light in Marconi is warm; its mood elegant. TeTaTeT has been used to illuminate a niche, as if it were a precious object. Masai shines its light on a painting, bringing out its beauty among tables. Cathode provides illumination to the table settings, generating a sense of antiquity and magic thanks to the latest in LED technology.
