House at the lake
Varese, Italy / 2015
There are large glass surfaces on one side that open up to a panoramic view of the landscape like a segmented diagram.
On the other side, wooden wings and some of the house’s functional elements lead us inside, through passageways in front of the glass before entering the darkness of the home’s interior.
The space is free and continuous, without interruptions. The borders are not well defined and everything changes according to the time of day.
Big, full-height sliding panels model ideal rooms, providing openings for light and companionship, creating a curious kind of dynamic game.
Outside, near the living-room windows, water from the pool reflects the hues of a changing sky.
Inside, the fire from burning coals in a brazier on the floor creates heat and company in winter.
