Light represented in the works of art, which becomes a sign of the artist’s style, from the ethereal light of Guercino to the Caravaggesque revolution, which plastically tears the bodies from the dark with a dramatic and deeply theatrical light.
Light also as blade, a cut of the canvas in Fontana, as explosion of iridescence in Kandinsky, as pictorial light to illuminate the metaphysical landscapes by De Chirico, a light that multiplies and refract itself reflected in the water mirrors of Monet and Canaletto.
Light infuses and defines the space.

Davide Groppi’s work has always been marked and accompanied by art throughout his career.
His way of “thinking about light” has been inspired by a continuous reflection on the works of the greatest artists, with the aim of creating an emotional journey capable of revealing new points of view, unexpected angles, surprising details.
The inspiration by Caravaggio’s theatrical and dramatic light, a cinematographic, photo-graphic light, was developed by Davide in “Light on the plate“. Characters seem to be coming out from darkness.
The light transforms the restaurant table into a stage, a mise-en-scene, a place for meeting and seduction, a union between the sense of conviviality and beauty.
Light is on stage, it becomes an ingredient.
Dinner becomes a complete experience, a multisensory emotion.
Picasso colours reveal themselves in “Pablo“, a canvas of light that becomes a work of art itself, reversing the very concept of lighting: the lamp illuminates itself, becoming a picture, an object of art and contemplation.
With “Masai“, inspired by Alberto Giacometti’s “thin figures”, the challenge is to illuminate art.
A light intended to enhance paintings and sculptures must not be the protagonist, but supporting and generous, putting itself at the service of the work of art. “Masai” is a taut and light string, almost invisible line which offers a delicate light, discrete and lateral.
Davide Groppi’s work has been moulded on the reflection on the concepts of space of Lucio Fontana, artist who has freed an art dimension that goes towards an unknown and fascinating elsewhere.
From this point on, a continuous work of subtraction began for the lamps to rid themselves of the source, leaving just a trace of an unexpected light, a luminous enigma that reveals without revealing itself.
Abstraction works representative of the dematerialization of the lamp object are “Infinito“, only a trace, a sliver of pure light, an abstraction, a thin ribbon that cuts the space, and “Nulla“, the ideal arrival point of this path, in which the source disappears, becomes point in space, leaving the scene to a luminous dance of vibrant shadows, flowing through an enchanted light.
